🥳🥳Congratulations to the following Year 11 students who were successful in securing a place for the Step Up Into Teaching Scholarship program to support their journey into early childhood/ primary teaching.🎓🎓 Kaitlin: School Based Traineeship as a School Based Support Officer Jessica: School Based Traineeship in Early Childhood Education and Care Shailea: School Based Traineeship in Early Childhood Education and Care These students will commence this program shortly at ACU Strathfield. This week at our Loyola campus we welcomed 14 international students from China. These students, aged between 14 and 15 from Zhongshan Huachen Experimental Secondary School, Zhongshan City in Guangdong province in China have never travelled to Australia before. Excitement was in the air from day one, with 8 CathWest students buddying up with our visitors. Students participated in classroom activities including creating a simple circuit, adding water and sound into the mix where they learnt how to use a Makey Makey gadget. In our Maker Space our students have access to a 3D printer, this creative workshop allowed for our visiting students to add a personalised print design to a t-shirt. As if the week was not busy enough CathWest was hosting STEM (MAD) a project that encourages students to apply Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learnings to make a difference (MAD) in the world by acting for justice and the common good. It was with great excitement our visitors explored, participated and encouraged all the projects. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and life long friendships were made. We look forward to hosting another group next week.

Our Year 12 ECEC students have hit the ground running this term, engaging in early maths skills experiments designed to develop critical thinking and foster curiosity and discovery. They’ve been exploring the foundations of early childhood education through hands-on activities that highlight the power of learning through play and inquiry. To build on their classroom learning, students also had an amazing day today visiting Mia Mia @macquarieuni — a renowned leader in early childhood care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. This valuable experience deepened their understanding of supervision and safety in early learning environments.
