Last week CathWest Loyola Campus hosted 20 international exchange students from China!
These students, aged between 14 and 17, participated in our Inquiry Bootcamp where they had the opportunity to undertake challenges such as a Mystery Box challenge where students had to design a product that could move, light up or make sound by learning how to use a Makey Makey gadget.
Students were also taught to draw self portraits by a CathWest former student and animator, Max Townes (2022 graduate) in preparation for them painting their own piece of art on canvas.

While these two challenges dominated the planning and skill development for the week, students also spent time learning from each other and about each others' cultures while completing other activities.
It was a wonderful experience for all involved as it allowed CathWest Year 10 students and the exchange students the opportunities to befriend people from a different culture and country. Our Year 12 students who assisted in buddying up with the exchange students were so helpful to the students and assisted the staff in planning and coordinating the Amazing Race challenge as well.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience for all involved as we embarked on our first ever CathWest Exchange Student Program.
