Last week Melissa Wu presented a powerful presentation to our CathWest staff & students, providing an insight into her journey as an Olympian. Melissa reflected, to be successful at anything you have to show commitment, determination, and be optimistic. Yes, there will be challenges along the way, however you need to find the inner belief and ambition that you can succeed. Melissa's brother, Joshua Wu from Hrdkaw Strength concluded the presentation with a demonstration of weightlifting techniques, whereby a few students were lucky enough to experience firsthand the training involved in being an elite weightlifter. Our 2024 CathWest School Captain, Sarah has been awarded School Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year for #MyGateway . Sarah recently graduated from CathWest having studied Certificate III in Electrotechnology.π©βπ§π·ββοΈ ππ Sarah is no stranger for being recognised as an achiever in her studies and practical skills, having also been nominated as a finalist at The 2024 Apprenticeship Employment Network Awards and NSW Training Awards in the SBAT category. We are proud to see Sarah recognised and rewarded for her continual commitment and proficiency in her profession. ππ Sarah started her Cathwest journey as a student in Year 10 and has shown enthusiasm and determination in commencing her SBAT as an Electrician in joint partnership with CathWest, My Gateway and #stoweaustralia. On Monday our year 10 students took part in an incredible experience at the Baden-Powell Activity Centre in Pennant Hills. The opportunity allowed students to face fears, work collaboratively and show their leadership skills. Activities like crate stacking, the Leap of Faith, and pioneering inspired growth in teamwork, respect, and building positive relationships. It was inspiring to see the whole cohort unite over a friendly game of soccer during the breaks. This unique event truly allowed our students to connect with each other and themselves, discovering new strengths along the way.β½οΈβοΈ Most importantly, our students were reminded that God and prayer are not confined to walls, but God's love can be experienced anywhere. π₯π©ββ€οΈβπ¨ Thank you to everyone involved in making this memorable day possible! #scoutsbadenpowell #cspd2024

School Holidays should be fun, so that is why @CathWest we offer Upskills Courses for high school students. πββοΈπββοΈ Beauty by @limitlessbrows&beauty was a full class, our students learnt the techniques in providing a facial and how to apply make-up, focusing on making the eyes pop! These students all enjoyed an insight into the beauty industry. ππ ππ Who doesn't enjoy a good hot chocolate or cappuccino? β β A skill every parent can appreciate, these students are now confident in making any type of coffee with an industrial coffee machine. β β For our creative students, #Max_towns a former student of @CathWest shared his ideas and enthusiasm for Character Illustration & Design, and how "everything is a shape". Today we welcomed students to our School Holiday Upskills courses. Hairdressing: A rep from De Lorenzo spoke about hair & scalp health and students were able to take a close look using technology that magnified their scalp, each student than had a chance to cleanse, treat and style each otherβs hair in our very own CathWest hair salon. Barista: Hot Chocolate, Latte, Cappuccino, you name it these students can now make it! Here at CathWest we hold the Upskills Courses Term 1, 2 & 3 of the school holidays.
