CSPD schools awarded STEM grants to inspire future innovators

Two Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) schools are set to expand opportunities for students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) following successful funding applications through the NSW Government’s STEM Equity & Access Program 2026 – Round 2.

As part of National Skills week we are offering a Trade Taster Day for year 9 or 10 students. 👷‍♀️👷 Students will have the opportunity to experience all 4 trades: Carpentry, Civil, Electrotechnology and Plumbing. We welcome students from any high school to register their interest. To conclude Term 2, our Year 10 Religion classes joined together for a hands-on activity that helped us better understand what people facing homelessness go through. This experience was designed to link to our Vinnies Winter Appeal and build empathy, encourage teamwork, and shed light on the everyday challenges many people face. 💙Our FIAT leaders did a great job guiding each group by explaining the tasks, offering support, and encouraging everyone to work together. The main challenge was for small groups to create a temporary homeless shelter using only cardboard boxes and a few other materials. With limited supplies, students had to get creative, communicate well, and cooperate to make a shelter that was actually practical. 💜This activity was a powerful reminder of how important it is to work together, solve problems, and show compassion. CSPD students recognised in Refugee Week Creative Competition

Over 125 students from 10 Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) schools have been recognised for their empathy and powerful storytelling as part of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Australia Refugee Week Creative Competition.
