Today both our campuses came together for our annual "CathWest Celebration Day" . Our students came together to celebrate as a community Trade and Vocation education at CathWest Innovation College. Our Year 12 students were tasked with planning and marketing a stall to support a charity that helps others including #beanieforbraincancer #jesuitrefugeeservice #stvinnieswinterappeal #youthoffthestreets #sirdavidmartinfoundation . Today’s celebration was about recognising the importance of compassion, mercy, and action. Through supporting a variety of organisations who work to make the world a better place, we are reminded of our call to love our neighbour. May we always see the world through the eyes of the Good Samaritan and be filled with your deep compassion. ✨ Junior Skills Quest – Explore Your Future ✨ As part of National Skills Week, CathWest Innovation College proudly hosted our neighbouring primary school, St. Aidan's Primary School, Rooty Hill, for our very first Junior Skills Quest! 59, Year 6 students and 6 teachers attended our college to experience a unique opportunity to explore hands-on skills in; 🔨 Carpentry ⚽Fitness 👱🏻‍♀️Hairdressing 🧁Hospitality 🎬 Screen & Media The day was filled with curiosity, creativity, and excitement for future Vocational Education courses. The Junior Skills Quest was more than a showcase – it was a celebration of learning, partnership, and community. Watching young students engage so enthusiastically reinforced the importance of connecting education with real-world skills. We look forward to continuing this collaboration with our local primary schools, building strong foundations for the next generation to dream, explore, and achieve their future pathways. This week at our Loyola campus we welcomed 14 international students from China. These students, aged between 14 and 15 from Zhongshan Huachen Experimental Secondary School, Zhongshan City in Guangdong province in China have never travelled to Australia before. Excitement was in the air from day one, with 8 CathWest students buddying up with our visitors. Students participated in classroom activities including creating a simple circuit, adding water and sound into the mix where they learnt how to use a Makey Makey gadget. In our Maker Space our students have access to a 3D printer, this creative workshop allowed for our visiting students to add a personalised print design to a t-shirt. As if the week was not busy enough CathWest was hosting STEM (MAD) a project that encourages students to apply Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learnings to make a difference (MAD) in the world by acting for justice and the common good. It was with great excitement our visitors explored, participated and encouraged all the projects. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and life long friendships were made. We look forward to hosting another group next week.

Our Year 12 ECEC students have hit the ground running this term, engaging in early maths skills experiments designed to develop critical thinking and foster curiosity and discovery. They’ve been exploring the foundations of early childhood education through hands-on activities that highlight the power of learning through play and inquiry. To build on their classroom learning, students also had an amazing day today visiting Mia Mia @macquarieuni — a renowned leader in early childhood care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. This valuable experience deepened their understanding of supervision and safety in early learning environments. 🌟 Our July Upskills was a big hit! 🌟 We kicked things off by getting creative and engaging all our senses in our very first Floral Arrangements Workshop with the wonderful Gail @floralteambuildingandevents. Participants walked away with stunning floral creations—and a new appreciation for the art of floristry! 🌸🌿 💄 In our Beauty course, students explored the world of skincare and cosmetics, learning facial techniques and makeup skills. ☕ Meanwhile, in Café & Customer Service, students put their hospitality skills to the test—taking orders, making milkshakes and mocktails, and serving up smiles to their parents! 🍓🥤 🎨✨ With creativity flowing and pencils in hand, the Character Illustration & Design students explored what it takes to develop a unique character—from personality to visual style. By the end of the session, each student had brought their very own character to life! 👾✏️ 💇‍♀️✂️ In our Hairdressing Workshop, students got hands-on with the art of blow drying, styling and straightening —learning the foundational skills needed in the salon. A big shout-out to all the participants who brought their enthusiasm and curiosity to every session. We love seeing you build confidence, try something new, and have fun while doing it! All the workshops offered provide a pathway to commence a SBA and complete your HSC at CathWest.
